This message is from Ashley Vaughn, Principal at Pine Crest Elementary. As we prepare for the arrival of our students, we would like for you to work with us to ensure a safe environment. Due to safety, Pine Crest will open the doors at 7:45 a.m. for car riders and walkers. For morning drop off, please pull up in front of Pine Crest to drop your students off. Remaining in your car will ensure that students are safe. They will be greeted and assisted by staff members as all school aged students will have their temperature taken prior to exiting the car each morning. As students enter the building, they should have a face covering or mask and use hand sanitizer. Students will then proceed to their grade level hallway and pick up breakfast prior to entering the classroom. Teachers and staff will be stationed to guide students as they navigate the building. 

Bus students will have their temperature taken prior to boarding the bus. If a student presents with a temperature of 100.4, he or she will not be permitted to board the bus. For this reason, it is very important that parents and guardians either stay with their students at the bus stop or be available for your child to return home. 

For dismissal, please do not arrive prior to 11:50 a.m. as this creates blocked roads, driveways, and prevents our buses from arriving to Pine Crest in a timely manner. As for car riders, fourth graders and kindergarten students, along with their siblings, will be picked up from the playground designated area. When the line splits into two, please be sure to keep to the left and exit directly to Kennedy. Students in first, second, third, and fifth that are car riders will be picked up in front of Pine Crest. Please follow the line around and keep to the right. The line will split into two lines in front of the building and students are safely escorted to the vehicle. Also, a paper plate with your child or children's first and last name placed in the window is a great way to make our dismissal run more smoothly. Please be patient as dismissal may take a few minutes longer during our first week of school.

Beginning Monday, October 19th, our school day is 8 a.m. to noon for our in-person students. All students (both full remote and those attending in-person) will need to participate in PE, Music, and SS each afternoon/evening in order to be marked in attendance for the afternoon session. Illinois has mandated that we take attendance that reflects remote, in-person or a hybrid of the two. If your child will not be in attendance in person or virtually, please call the office to notify us of the absence in order to maintain consistent and accurate attendance records.

We are asking families to focus on purchasing the essential supplies such as pencils, erasers, paper, folders, crayons, and tissues.
