Unvaccinated students whose parent(s) have opted their child into the SHIELD IL weekly testing.
Who will be administering the Covid 19 saliva test to my child?
We have partnered with SHIELD IL (associated with the University of IL). SHIELD IL has assigned us an operations partner, HR Support. HR Support will administer the Covid 19 saliva test once per week, they will transport the saliva samples to a local lab, and they will contact parents and the District electronically with the results within 24 hours.
If my child did not bring the Opt-Out Consent Form home, how do I get one?
Please contact your child’s school office and an opt-out consent form will be provided to you.
How will I receive the results of my child’s test?
HR Support will be contacting parents via email or text message with the test results.
What does the testing process look like?
SHIELD IL will set up a testing center in each building. Students will enter the testing area, provide the sample, and return to their school activities. The testing process should not take more than 5 minutes.

Will you be offering testing at school if my child has symptoms of Covid 19?
If your child is sick at school
The Georgetown-Ridge Farm School District school nursing staff have been approved to administer Covid 19 tests to symptomatic students who are displaying 2 or more Covid 19 symptoms. If your child has symptoms of Covid 19, the school nurse will contact you. If you have opted your child into the weekly testing program and you approve of the BinaxNow Rapid Test being administered to your child, the nurse will test your student and provide you with the results within an hour. There is no cost for the test.
For those parents that chose not to opt their child into the weekly SHIELD IL saliva testing program, but would like their student who is displaying 2 or more Covid 19 symptoms to be tested, you may do so. The school nurse will ask you to come to the school to sign the consent form and the school nurse will then administer the BinaxNow Rapid Test to your child and provide you with the results within an hour. There is no cost for the test.
If your child is sick at home
If your child is displaying 2 or more Covid 19 symptoms and you are interested in getting your child Covid 19 tested, the District can administer the BinaxNow Rapid Test during the course of the regularly scheduled school day. The process to have your student tested by the school nurse is as follows:
Contact your child’s building nurse to make an appointment. Transport your child to the school front entrance at your appointment time and remain in your car. The School Nurse will administer the test while your child remains in the car. She will contact you within one hour with the results. For those parents who did not opt into the weekly Covid 19 testing, then you will be required to sign a consent form prior to the School Nurse administering the BinaxNow Rapid Test. There is no cost for the test. For more information on Shield IL visit https://www.uillinois.edu/shield
