Sixth grade ELA is wrapping up the year by making a memory box of artifacts to represent the book Esperanza Rising. Students have to work within a set budget to "purchase" crafting supplies then work with their assigned partner or group to design and craft the items. Once the artifacts are finished, students will make a slideshow explaining each artifact and present it to the class. This project can be quite messy, but it's worth it to see the kids exercise their creative muscles and build critical thinking skills.

This week’s Student Spotlight shines on Kinslee, Myah, Molly, Mallory, Brielle, Abby W., and Abby P. for their dedication and love for rec league softball!
Most of these girls have been playing since their T-ball days and have continued growing their skills and passion for the game over the years. When asked what they enjoy most about softball, they shared that they love the competition, playing with friends, learning new skills, connecting with teammates, and having fun — even when mistakes happen.
The girls also talked about some of the challenges that come with the sport, including rainouts, getting through slumps, staying out of their heads, and competing against tougher teams. Through it all, they continue to work hard, support one another, and show great sportsmanship both on and off the field.
We are proud of these student-athletes for their teamwork, perseverance, and positive attitudes. Keep up the great work, ladies!

🌟 Spotlight Student: Lilee 🌟
Lilee has been competing in pageants since 3rd grade and has loved the experience of meeting people from all around and making new friends along the way. One of the most challenging parts for her is the formal wear competition because it requires walking slowly and confidently, even when feeling nervous.
Lilee is currently serving as the American Elegance Pageant Preteen Miss, and we are so proud of her accomplishments and dedication. Congratulations, Lilee! 👑

Students in Mrs. Lewsader and Mrs. Jennings’ class put their engineering skills to the test yesterday by building earthquake-safe structures during science class!
A huge thank you to Pine Crest for donating several Stranger Things books to our library here at MMJH! These books are a fantastic addition to our collection, and we know our students will enjoy reading them!
Our Yearbook Signing Party was a blast! Students spent time laughing, sharing memories, writing heartfelt messages, and filling each other’s yearbooks with notes they’ll cherish for years to come. It was a fun way to celebrate friendships and another amazing school year together!

🧵 Our students in Sewing class have been hard at work creating their very own pot holders! From learning basic stitching techniques to choosing fabrics and putting their creativity to use, these students are gaining hands-on skills one project at a time.

Today we are spotlighting Jaxon!
Outside of school, Jaxon participates in Tae Kwon Do at Kruger's ATA Martial Arts. He recently became a Legacy Member and is now a certified trainee instructor! Jaxon is also a 2nd degree black belt, which is an incredible accomplishment.
When asked about his favorite part of Tae Kwon Do, Jaxon said he enjoys the exhilaration of getting to perform his forms in front of lots of people. He shared that one of the most challenging parts is learning the forms and continuing to improve his skills.
On top of his martial arts achievements, Jaxon is also musically talented! He plays the guitar, bass, baritone ukulele, and soprano ukulele. 🎸🎶
We are so proud of Jaxon and all of his hard work and dedication both in and out of school!

After 21 long days, Mrs. Lambert’s junior high class finally met their chicks! 🐣
Throughout the incubation process, students kept detailed logs and are now checking in weekly to monitor the chicks’ health and growth. This hands-on unit brings learning to life as students explore everything from egg development to raising chickens, along with understanding the poultry industry and its role in our everyday lives.
