2nd Grade Classes had a great time visiting Staerkel Planetarium today! After learning about our solar system, students enjoyed lunch at Parkland College with their friends! The weather was not on our side today for the park, but we made the best of it and have some great memories from our day!

Mr. Herrin’s class has spent the past few weeks exploring the life cycle of chickens and learning all about embryo development. We studied how embryos grow, how eggs are fertilized, and even discovered some fun facts—did you know there are over 1,600 chicken breeds around the world? The students were thrilled to find out they’d be helping raise chicks right in the classroom! Today, we moved our newly hatched chicks out of the incubators—check out these adorable photos! 🐣

And to top off a fantastic day at the District 118 Math Challenge, our first graders got to celebrate their hard work with a special treat from McDonald’s!

Some of our talented first graders had the exciting opportunity to participate in the District 118 Math Challenge today. It was a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved!

Students in Mr. Herrin’s second grade class have spent the last week learning about landforms and canyons. After learning the process of how erosion affects landforms, they put their theories to the test. The students created their own model “rainstorms” to see what would happen to their landforms. The students had a messy, fun time with this activity!

2nd grade students are enjoying the new equipment that PTO purchased for all students to use outside during recess times. Thanks, PTO, we appreciate you!
