Willow in Mrs. Scott’s class has earned a skating pass for improving her fluency in reading and working hard with reading lots of new books. Keep up the good work!
Students in Mrs. Scott’s 1st grade class “rolled dice to 100” with a fun partner game. They celebrated the 100th day of school by doing lots of fun learning activities to enhance their counting skills. They are also learning greater than and less than with two digit numbers in math.
Shoutout to Tailynn in Mrs. Davis’s class for earning a book token! Tai has been working hard on her oral reading fluency and has become a 2nd grade math rockstar! Keep up the great work, Tai!
In Mrs. Davis’s 2nd grade class, students learned about Biodiversity, Habitat and Species by investigating information about birds. Today, student were able to take their prototype from their bird feeder designs and bring them to life!

Mrs. Cosat's class had a fun experiment today, testing whether it’s easier to eat with a thin beak using a straw or a wide beak using a cup. They thought the thin beak would be the winner, but after trying it out, they discovered that the wide beak actually made it easier to get the food!

Courage is the ability to face fear, pain or danger, and to do what is right despite opposition! After learning information from 4th and 5th grade students last week during of our Week of Courage, Mrs. Davis’s 2nd grade class created courage shields to show ways they can show courage at school or in our community.
Pine Crest has an opening for a recess monitor. If you are interested please reach out to Mr. Barth or Mr. McCorkle. We would love to have you join our team and see the awesome things we're doing here at Pine Crest. This is a two hour position and the hours are from 10:45am-12:45pm.

Dennis Hernandez earned a token for the book vending machine today when he read a book all on his own. Way to go, Dennis, keep up the great work!
Mrs. Esteppe's second grade completed a fun engaging project in Science. In this lesson students investigated which kinds of birds are likely to visit a bird feeder based on what they eat. Then students drew their own bird feeder design to attract a specific type of bird. Then, they built a prototype of their bird feeder using available materials. These future scientists had great ideas!

This week, students have been learning about the power of courage through the stories of influential leaders and discussing ways they can show bravery in their own lives. 💪✨ Today, the class got to put their creativity to work by designing their very own “Shields of Courage” 🛡️—a perfect way to express what courage means to them. ❤
